विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन ने शनिवार को मंकीपॉक्स को अंतरराष्ट्रीय चिंता का सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल (ग्लोबल इमर्जेसी ) घोषित किया। वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य निकाय ने कहा कि 70 से अधिक देशों मेंमंकीपॉक्स का प्रकोप एक 'असाधारण' स्थिति है जो अब वैश्विक आपातकाल के रूप में योग्य है। डब्ल्यूएचओ के महानिदेशक ट्रेडोस एडनॉम गेरब्रेयियस ने एक बयान में कहा, "डब्ल्यूएचओ का आकलन है कि मंकीपॉक्स का जोखिम विश्व स्तर पर और यूरोपीय क्षेत्र को छोड़कर सभी क्षेत्रों में मध्यम है, जहां हम जोखिम का आकलन करते हैं।" बयान में आगे यह भी कहा गया है कि यह आगे अंतरराष्ट्रीय प्रसार का एक स्पष्ट जोखिम भी है, हालांकि अंतरराष्ट्रीय यातायात में हस्तक्षेप का जोखिम फिलहाल कम है। डब्ल्यूएचओ प्रमुख ने कहा "तो संक्षेप में, हमारे पास एक प्रकोप है जो दुनिया भर में तेजी से फैल गया है, संचरण के नए तरीकों के माध्यम से, जिसके बारे में हम बहुत कम समझते हैं, और जो अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य विनियमों में मानदंडों को पूरा करता है।" उन्होंने कहा, "इन सभी कारणों से, हमने फैसला किया है कि वैश्विक मंकीपॉक्स का प्रकोप अंतरराष्ट्रीय चिंता का एक सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य आपातकाल का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है।" इस बीच, भारत ने मंकीपॉक्स के तीन मामलों की पुष्टि की है, जो सभी केरल में रिपोर्ट किए गए हैं। यह भी पढ़े► नींद की कमी दिल के दौरे का प्रमुख कारण

The Government of India has signed 25 Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) for country to country cooperation in the field of medicine Nepal, Bangladesh, Hungary, Trinidad & Tobago, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, World Health Organization, Germany, Iran, Sao Tome & Príncipe, Equatorial Guinea, Cuba, Colombia, Japan, Bolivia, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, China, St Vincent and The Grenadines, Suriname, Brazil and Zimbabwe. 37 MoUs for undertaking collaborative research and development of Traditional Medicine has been signed with foreign Institutes/Universities/Organizations from USA, Germany, UK, Canada, Malaysia, Brazil, Australia, Austria, Tajikistan, Saudi Arabia, Ecuador, Japan, Indonesia, Reunion Island, Korea and Hungary etc.. 15 MoUs have been signed for setting up of Ayush Academic Chairs in foreign Institutes/Universities from Hungary, Latvia, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Russia, West-Indies, Thailand, Indonesia, Slovenia, Armenia, Argentina, Malaysia, South Africa, Australia and Mexico. The constituent laboratory of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research namely Institute of Himalayan Bio-resource Technology (CSIR-IHBT), Palampur has signed an MoU with National Research Institute of Chinese Medicine, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Taiwan, to collaborate in the areas of mutual interest which included medicinal plants, bioactive molecules, herbal formulations etc. CSIR and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation have signed an MoU to identify the opportunities for scientific and technological research between researchers located within and outside of India, including collaborations with foundation-funded entities in the areas including but not limited to traditional medicine (AYUSH)-guided by specific applications to disease/ health priorities. Under the Central Sector Scheme for Promotion of International Co-operation in Ayush (IC Scheme), Ministry of Ayush supports Ayush drug manufacturers, entrepreneurs, Ayush institutions and Hospitals etc. for international propagation of Ayush by participating in international exhibitions, trade fairs, road shows etc. to display their products and services. Ayush Oushadhi Gunvatta evam Uttpadan Samvardhan Yojana (AOGUSY) of Ministry of Ayush has been initiated for augmenting quality of Ayush drugs during the 15th Finance Cycle (2021-22 to 2025-26) by merging the existing Central Sector Schemes of Pharmacovigilance initiative, Central Drug Controller of Ayush and Quality Control of ASU&H drugs {Component of National Ayush Mission (NAM)} and inclusion of certain new elements to facilitate standardization, effective enforcement of rules/regulations, technology up-gradation for manufacturing and analytical testing, certification/accreditation, training and capacity building activities intended towards quality assurance of Ayush drugs. The Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) of Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India is available to the Industry for availing benefits under Manufacturing and Service Sector including Ayush. Indian medicine Pharmaceutical Corporation Limited (IMPCL) which is a Mini Ratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) under the Ministry of Ayush (Government of India) is manufacturing of Ayurveda & Unani Medicines in India. India is a biodiversity rich country and as per the Botanical Survey of India estimation, more than 8,000 species of medicinal plants are found in the country including state of Maharashtra. गोरखपुर (उत्तरप्रदेश) आयुर्वेद और योग का केंद्र बनने की राह पर चल पड़ा है। एक तरफ गोरखपुर में राज्य के पहले आयुष विश्वविद्यालय (महायोगी गुरु गोरक्षनाथ) का निर्माण कार्य चल रहा है तो दूसरी तरफ गुरु गोरखनाथ विश्वविद्यालय इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ मेडिकल साइंस में आयुर्वेद और योग समेत इलाज के परंपरागत विधा से संबंधित कोर्स शुरू किये जा रहे हैं। आयुर्वेद और योग को लेकर की जा रही इस पहल से न केवल पूर्वांचल बल्कि उत्तरी बिहार और नेपाल की तराई के करोड़ों लोगों को इसका लाभ मिलेगा।  गोरखपुर में आयुर्वेद एवं योग की संपन्न परंपरा रही है। यहाँ पहले से ही गोरखपुर में प्राकृतिक तरीके से इलाज के लिए एक केंद्र (आरोग्य मंदिर) है। इस सपंन्न परंपरा की वजह से गोरखपुर में आयुर्वेद एवं योग की संभावना बढ़ जाती है। इसी वजह से गोरखपुर में प्रदेश का पहला आयुष विश्वविद्यालय बन रहा है। इसका शिलान्यास 28 अगस्त 2021 को राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने किया था। उम्मीद है कि यह 2024 तक बनकर तैयार हो जाएगा। बजट में भी इसके लिए 113.52 करोड़ रुपये का प्रावधान किया गया है। इसके बनने से इलाज के साथ गुणवत्तापूर्ण शिक्षा एवं शोध को बढ़ावा मिलेगा। दरअसल आयुर्वेद भारत की अपनी और प्राचीनतम चिकित्सा पद्धति है। यह बिना किसी दुष्प्रभाव के रोगों के रोकथाम या निरोग करने की विधा। इसीलिए इसे दीर्घायु का विज्ञान भी कहा जाता है। विश्व की प्राचीनतम चिकित्सा प्रणाली आयुर्विज्ञान, विज्ञान की वह शाखा है जिसका सम्बन्ध मानव शरीर को निरोग रखने, रोग हो जाने पर रोग से मुक्त करने अथवा उसका शमन करने तथा आयु बढ़ाने से है। यही वजह है कि आयुर्वेद को बढ़ावा देने के लिए आयुष मिशन योजना के तहत अयोध्या में राजकीय आयुर्वेदिक महाविद्यालय की स्थापना की जा रही है। इसी योजना के तहत उन्नाव, श्रावस्ती, हरदोई, संभल, गोरखपुर एवं मीरजापुर में 50-50 बेड वाले एकीकृत आयुष चिकित्सालयों की भी स्थापना की जा रही है। प्रदेश के आयुष, खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं औषधि प्रशासन विभाग के मंत्री दयाशंकर मिश्र दयालु ने कहा कि इस विश्वविद्यालय के बनने से आस-पास के छात्रों को पढ़ाई के लिए बाहर नहीं जाना पड़ेगा। साथ ही स्थानीय लोगों के आसाध्य रोगों का इलाज भी इस विधा से आसानी से हो जाएगा। आयुर्वेद के जरिए उत्तरप्रदेश को मेडिकल हब बनाने की कोशिश  आयुर्वेद के जरिए उत्तरप्रदेश को मेडिकल हब बनाने की कोशिश भी चल रही है। यही वजह है कि सरकार आयुर्वेद को खासा प्रोत्साहन दे रही है और युद्धस्तर पर स्वास्थ्य सुविधाओं में तेजी से इजाफा किया जा रहा है। बेहतर हेल्थ इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर के लिए प्रदेश के सीमावर्ती व अन्य क्षेत्रों में सुपर स्पेशियलिटी चिकित्सालयों की स्थापना करने का निर्णय लिया गया है। प्रदेश में अन्तर राज्यीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सीमाओं पर मेडिकल कॉलेज की स्थापना किए जाने का निर्णय सरकार ने लिया है जिससे एक ओर प्रदेश में रेफरल केसों की संख्या में काफी कमी आएगी वहीं उत्तर प्रदेश मेडिकल टूरिज्म का हब बनेगा। इसके लिए योगी सरकार ने साल वित्तिय वर्ष 2022-2023 के बजट में 25 करोड़ रूपए की धनराशि प्रस्तावित की है। आयुर्वेद को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से गोरखपुर में आयुष विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना के लिए योगी सरकार ने बजट में 113 करोड़ 52 लाख रुपए की धनराशि प्रस्तावित की है। करीब 268 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से 52 एकड़ के परिसर में प्रदेश का पहला आयुष विश्वविद्यालय महायोगी गुरु गोरक्षनाथ के नाम से निमार्णाधीन है। 28 अगस्त 2021 को राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने इसका शिलान्यास किया था। इसके अलावा आयुष मिशन योजना के तहत अयोध्या में राजकीय आयुर्वेदिक महाविद्यालय की स्थापना की जा रही है। इसी योजना के तहत उन्नाव, श्रावस्ती, हरदोई, संभल, गोरखपुर एवं मीरजापुर में 50-50 बेड वाले एकीकृत आयुष चिकित्सालयों की भी स्थापना की जा रही है। प्रदेश के आयुष, खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं औषधि प्रशासन विभाग के मंत्री दयाशंकर मिश्र दयालु ने कहा कि प्रदेश सरकार आयुर्वेद को बढ़ावा देने की दिश में काम कर रही है। आयुर्वेद, होम्योपैथ, यूनानी के अलग-अलग अस्पताल बनाएं जा रहे हैं। एक ही कैंपस में तीन विभागों के अस्पताल होंगे। 13 अस्पताल बनाएं जा रहे हैं। जिससे लोगों को किसी प्रकार की असुविधा न हो सके। यह भी पढ़े► संस्कृत विश्वविद्यालयों में आयुर्वेद की पढ़ाई !

London: Finding it hard to raise levels of Vitamin D, popularly known as the sunshine vitamin? Scientists have developed gene-edited tomatoes that could be a simple and sustainable innovation to address the global health problem. Researchers John Innes Centre in the UK used gene editing to turn off a specific molecule in the plant's genome which increased provitamin D3 in both the fruit and leaves of tomato plants. It was then converted to Vitamin D3 through exposure to Ultraviolet B light. Vitamin D is created in our bodies after skin's exposure to UVB light, but the major source is food. This new biofortified crop could help millions of people with Vitamin D insufficiency, a growing issue linked to higher risk of cancer, dementia, and many leading causes of mortality, according to the study, which appears in the journal Nature Plants. Tomatoes naturally contain one of the building blocks of Vitamin D3, called provitamin D3 or 7-dehydrocholesterol (7-DHC), in their leaves at very low levels. Provitamin D3, does not normally accumulate in ripe tomato fruits. Researchers used CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing to make revisions to the genetic code of tomato plants so that provitamin D3 accumulates in the tomato fruit. The leaves of the edited plants contained up to 600 microgram of provitamin D3 per gram of dry weight. The recommended daily intake of vitamin d is 10 micrograms for adults. When growing tomatoes leaves are usually waste material, but those of the edited plants could be used for the manufacture of vegan-friendly Vitamin D3 supplements, or for food fortification. "We've shown that you can biofortify tomatoes with provitamin D3 using gene editing, which means tomatoes could be developed as a plant-based, sustainable source of vitamin D3," said Professor Cathie Martin, corresponding author of the "Forty per cent of Europeans have vitamin D insufficiency and so do one billion people world-wide. We are not only addressing a huge health problem, but are helping producers, because tomato leaves which currently go to waste, could be used to make supplements from the gene-edited lines," Martin added. The study noted that the provitamin D enriched tomatoes could be much helpful for people adopting a plant-rich, vegetarian or vegan diet, and for the growing number of people worldwide suffering from the problem of vitamin D insufficiency.
