All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) and the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) jointly organized an Interactive meeting for Research and Education in Ayush with a focus on R& D, Education, and capacity building today at New Delhi. The objective of the interactive meeting was to brainstorm and set goals to capitalize on the expertise and experience of the Chairs in academic and research avenues. The participants discussed the research education ecosystem in Ayush Colleges, at both graduation and post-graduation levels. The meeting was focused on Research & Development, Education & capacity building in the Ayush sector. All the Directors presented their success stories. On this occasion, Vd. Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, said “Today we all have gathered here to brainstorm how we can collectively use the expertise and knowledge of the distinguished chair and set up the goal for the future. The pandemic allowed Ayush to develop their science, and Ayush did it by developing Ayush 64, etc.”. Pramod Kumar Pathak, Special Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, said “This meeting will help researchers to get the insights from Ayush Distinguished Chairs and know their experience in their field. An initiative like today’s was the need of the hour. The Ministry of Ayush is working to promote Ayush’s patents and research”. Welcoming everyone Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director of AIIA said, “It is a historic movement when Administrators, Policy makers, Education experts, Researchers, and distinguished Scientists have come under one platform. This platform gives us an opportunity to create an evidence-based Ayurveda creating disciplinary model and integration. Prof. Vd Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General CCRAS, said “When we compare Ayush with Chinese alternative method of treatment, it has much more potential to go high. During COVID time Ayush system has registered more clinical studies, in comparison to the Chinese system of medicines. It is high time to give much priority to research,”. The meeting was attended by Heads of all Ayush National Institutions, Research, Councils, and advisors of MoA, Chairman of NCSIM Vaidya Jayant Deopujari, and NCH Dr. Anil Khurana including five newly- distinguished appointed scientists Ayush Distinguished Scientist Chairs Dr. Nandini K. Kumar (Interdisciplinary Clinical Research), Dr. Arvind Chopra, (Public health and Epidemiology), Dr. Sharmila Shekhar Mande (Ayurveda Biology and Basic Sciences), Dr. Madhu Dikshit (Pharmaceutical Drug Development) and Dr. B.N. Ministry of Ayush has launched a special edition of the official research publication of the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Journal of Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (JRAS) focused on the “Impact of Mann ki Baat on Ayush Sector”. Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal today launched the special edition of the journal in the presence of Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, of Ayush, and senior officials of the Ministry. In his address, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal said,  “Prime Minister’s “Mann ki Baat” conversations have been instrumental in giving a positive trust to Ayush. With its innovative and unique interactive style of presentation, the radio program has carved out a niche for itself and has become popular among communities. The content of this special edition of the journal has taken inspiration from various thoughts of our PM on the Ayush sector.” Ayush has been mentioned in about 37 of the “Mann Ki Baat” episodes. The Prime Minister had urged citizens to adopt a healthy lifestyle, practice yoga, and adopt evidence-based Ayurveda and imbibe the Ayurveda way of life into their lifestyle. As a result of the Prime Minister’s efforts to promote the Ayush sector, there has been an increase in awareness about the benefits of traditional Indian systems of medicine, not only in India but also globally. The content of the special edition of the journal is inspired by various conversations of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Ayush systems during the last 9 years. It highlights the impact of “Mann ki Baat” on the Ayush sector and how Ayush is becoming a fundamental pillar of the country’s national health policy and health interventions.  A total of 24 articles by renowned experts are included in 7 potential areas i.e. Policy & Public Health, Science & Evidence, Health Education & Awareness, Yoga & Swasthavritta (Lifestyle, Exercise, Food, Nutrition), War against Corona, Industry & Academia Collaboration and Globalization & International Cooperation. The special edition includes a special message from Minister of Ayush Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Minister of State for Ayush Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai. आयुष की बढ़ती वैश्विक मांग के बीच, भारतीय चिकित्सा पद्धति के क्षेत्र में संस्थान और अस्पताल तेजी से चिकित्सा बुनियादी ढांचे और सुविधाओं का आधुनिकीकरण कर रहे हैं। आयुष मंत्रालय के केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेदीय विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद् (सीसीआरएएस) के तहत दो प्रमुख संस्थान केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान (सीएआरआई), नई दिल्ली और केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान, झांसी को क्रमशः एनएबीएच और एनएबीएल की आधिकारिक मान्यता मिल गई है। उल्लेखनीय है कि एनएबीएच भारतीय गुणवत्ता परिषद का मूल बोर्ड है, जिसकी स्‍थापना स्वास्थ्य सेवा संगठनों के मान्यता कार्यक्रमों को स्थापित करने और उन्‍हें चलाने के लिए की गई है। आधिकारिक मान्यता राष्ट्रीय/अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मानकों के आधार पर रोगी सुरक्षा और स्वास्थ्य देखभाल की गुणवत्ता पर ध्यान केंद्रित करती है। इस उपलब्धि पर आयुष मंत्रालय के सचिव वैद्य राजेश कोटेचा ने दोनों संस्थानों के अधिकारियों और कर्मचारियों को उनके समर्पण और निरंतर प्रयासों के लिए बधाई दी। आयुष भवन, नई दिल्ली में औपचारिक रूप से आयोजित कार्यक्रम में आयुष मंत्रालय के विशेष सचिव श्री प्रमोद कुमार पाठक, दोनों संस्थानों के प्रतिनिधि उपस्थित थे। केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान, नई दिल्ली की स्थापना वर्ष 1979 में आयुष मंत्रालय के केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेदीय विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद् (सीसीआरएएस) के तहत की गई थी और यह आयुर्वेद में नैदानिक ​​अनुसंधान के लिए समर्पित है और यह सामान्‍य ओपीडी के माध्‍यम से आयुर्वेद में विशेष ओपीडी, सुरक्षात्‍मक हृदय रोग विज्ञान और जीवन शैली की चुनौतियों, कान और नाक की ओपीडी, जराचिकित्सा ओपीडी, बालरोग, संधिरोग, क्लिनिकल साइकोलॉजी और मर्म ओपीडी के रूप में स्वास्थ्य देखभाल सेवाओं का विस्तार करता है। इस तरह की महत्वपूर्ण स्वास्थ्य सेवा की पेशकश, एनएबीएच मान्यता प्राप्‍त संस्थान में आने वाले हजारों रोगियों के स्वास्थ्य संबंधी उद्देश्यों को बदल देगी। सीसीआरएएस-सीएआरआई, झांसी (उत्‍तर प्रदेश) को एनएबीएल की मान्यता केन्‍द्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान, झांसी (उत्‍तर प्रदेश) सीसीआरएएस, आयुष मंत्रालय के प्रमुख संस्थानों में से एक है, जिसमें अत्याधुनिक गुणवत्ता नियंत्रण प्रयोगशालाएं (रसायन विज्ञान, सूक्ष्म जीव विज्ञान, फार्माकोग्नॉसी), आयुर्वेदिक फार्मेसी, सेंट्रल हर्बेरियम और संग्रहालय, और नेशनल रॉ ड्रग्स रिपॉजिटरी (एनआरडीआर) हैं। इन दो सीसीआरएएस संस्थानों के अलावा, पंचकर्म के लिए राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद अनुसंधान संस्थान (एनएआरआईपी), चेरुथुरुथी, त्रिशूर, केरल को भी अपनी नैदानिक ​​प्रयोगशाला सेवाओं के लिए एनएबीएल एम (ईएल) टी की आधिकारिक मान्यता प्राप्त है। एनएआरआईपी, केरल केंद्रीय आयुर्वेदिक विज्ञान अनुसंधान परिषद, आयुष मंत्रालय के अंतर्गत प्रमुख अनुसंधान संस्‍थाओं में से एक है।

The Ministry of Ayush has formally announced setting up of Ayurveda Academic Chair based at Western Sydney University’s NICM Health Research Institute, with tenure for a period of three years. Dr. Rajagopala S., Associate Professor & Head (Department of Kaumarabhritya) All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), New Delhi has been selected for the post of Academic Chair in Ayurvedic Science at Western Sydney University, Australia. Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush met the Australian delegation led by Prof. Barney Glover, Vice Chancellor & President, Western Sydney University and others. Shri Pramod Kumar Pathak, Special Secretary, Dr. Manoj Nesari, Advisor (Ayurveda), Prof. Tanuja Nesari, Director, AIIA, Dr. Vidyarthi Director MoA, Dr. Rajagopala S and other officials from MoA along with Ms. Paramita Tripathi, Joint Secretary (Oceania), Ministry of External Affairs were present on this occasion. On this occasion, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush said, “This is a great step and I am sure that this chair will strengthen our collaborations in promoting academic and collaborative research activities in Australia. This will also help in translating the research outcomes to integrate it with public health care delivery system to have credible evidences of our scientific practices.” Prof. Barney Glover, Vice Chancellor & President, Western Sydney University acknowledged that this collaboration will help in bringing together Western medicine and Ayurvedic Science.   The Academic Chair will undertake academic and collaborative research activities in Ayurveda, including herbal medicine and yoga, as well as design academic standards and short-term/medium-term courses and educational guidelines. It will provide academic leadership in demonstrating and fostering excellence in teaching, research and policy development related to Ayurveda, within the robust Australian regulatory frame work, and develop strategies to promote the translation and integration of evidence based Ayurveda medicines into conventional healthcare. The Ministry of Ayush has taken concerted efforts for promoting and positioning Ayurveda and Yoga as the soft power of India. To facilitate the same, Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) has been signed for Ayush Chair with 16 foreign countries. MoA has also developed a Central Sector Scheme for the promotion of International Cooperation (IC Scheme) with the mandate to promote and strengthen awareness about Ayush Systems of Medicine, to facilitate international promotion, development and recognition of Ayush Systems in foreign countries and to support international exchange of experts.
