The Union Budget 2021-22 allocated Rs 71,268.77 crore to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry an increase of about 10 per cent from the previous year’s budget estimates, according to Union Budget presented February 1, 2021.
The introduction of the Aatmanirbhar health program with an outlay of Rs 64,180 crore in addition to the national health mission in the Union Budget 2021 is a step forward in ensuring a Healthy India and claiming its position as an undisputed leader on global health and wellbeing platform.

“We further expect special incentives from the huge healthcare spending outlay to create a robust ecosystem supporting world-class research, product development, and drug discovery in the Ayurvedic sector so as to mainstream it for future generations to accept it as the first call of prevention and treatment.”

Prof. K.R. Kohli : Introduction
Prof. Kuldip Raj Kohli is currently the Director of Ayurveda for Maharashtra state. Also practicing at Kohli's Ayurveda & Panchakarma Centre in Lower Parel, Mumbai and has an experience of 38 years in this field. He has been the Dean, R.A. Podar Medical College (Ay), Mumbai where he had earlier served as an Associate Professor and Professor since 1990.
He has also served as Consultant WHO for Traditional Medicine for South-East Asia. He also had an exposure to Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Industry and worked as Director of Dabur Research Foundation for around 5 years. He has been the Postgraduate Guide and has supervised several students for M.D (Ay). He is also the Ph.D Guide in MUHS. He has widely travelled across several countries either in the delegations of Govt of India or for presenting his research papers. His research has mostly been concentrated in the field of Diabetic Complications and more so in Diabetic Retinopathy.
Value of Vasant Kusmakar Ras in Diabetic Retinopathy and Neuropathy has been first highlighted after his studies only. He has several publications in indexed journals. He has in all around 30 years of experience which primarily surrounds teaching, research and health administration along with international propagation of AYUSH systems.
