Union Ayush Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal and MoS for Ayush, Dr. Munjapara Mahendrabhai visited All India Institute of Ayurveda on Sunday and inaugurated Multi-Purpose Yoga Hall & Mini Auditorium. Both the Ministers highly appreciated the work done by AIIA and assured their full-fledged support for further development of the Institute to make it world’s best Ayurveda Institute. Lauding the futuristic plan of the Institute, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal assured all help for establishing the first Bio-Bank of the world in Ayurveda at AIIA.
Both the Ministers were shown various facilities at AIIA and they took keen interest in knowing the unique features of the Institute.Shri Sarbanandaadvised the Director AIIA, Prof. Dr. Tanuja Nesari to not only further intensify scientific investigation in the Institute but also ensure that successful research reaches to masses in their langua-franca. While appreciating the wholesome approach of treatment at AIIA, the Minister of State Dr.MunjaparaMahendrabhai advised to deepen the focus on integrated and holistic treatment.

Both the Ministers visited almost all major departments and interacted in detail with faculty and students on ongoing treatment and research facilities. The unique feature of AIIA’s Panchkarm for Children and Panchkarma for the eyes was also appreciated by the Ministers. After visiting the Ayurvedic Dentistry Unit the Ministers observed
Ayurvedic Surgery facilities. At the Blood Bank, the Cabinet Minister advised to further deepen research on auto immune diseases and Leukaemia. At Pharmocology Lab, he also advised Institute to work rigorously on enhancing the quality standards of Ayurvedic Medicine. The Ministers also lauded Ayurvedic Herbal Fumigation practice of AIIA.
Focus of both the Ministers was on competency and practical knowledge. After inaugurating the Multi-Purpose Yoga Hall, shriSonowal asked the students to demonstrate some complex Yogasanas and later appreciated the performance or students.
The Minsters were shown a short film on AIIA, focused on scientific clinical studies during COVID times. They expressed satisfaction over the activities of the Institute and COVID Health Centre and COVID Testing Centre.

Panaji, April 30 (IANS) Goa Shipyard Limited, a Defence Ministry shipyard, will aid the state government in providing the oxygen for Covid-19 patients with the help of its 'Onsite Oxygen Generating Plant', Union Minister of State for Defence Shirpad Naik said in a statement on Friday."The proposed oxygen plant will generate medical oxygen at the rate of 960 litre per minute and will be set-up within a month by GSL," Naik said.The minister also said that considering the urgent need for medical oxygen, the shipyard was also providing 40 oxygen concentrators to the state government.Goa has witnessed an unprecedented rise in Covid-19 cases in the state and the positivity rate in the state has crossed 51 per cent.Goa currently has 20,898 active Covid-19 cases, while 1,146 persons have died in the state following coronavirus-related complications.--IANSmaya/rt
More than a month after he was hospitalized with serious injuries following a road accident in Karnataka, Union Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik on Wednesday was discharged from a top government hospital.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. Shivanand Bandodkar, dean of the Goa Medical College, the state's apex health facility, said that Naik's wounds had healed well and he may be in a position to attend the budget session of Parliament, which is scheduled to reconvene after the ongoing break, in March.
"He has healed well. His thigh bone fracture is also healing. He needs rest, which he can take at home," Bandodkar told reporters at the time of the Union Minister's discharge.
"We will conduct an x-ray sitting again and after examining his condition, we will consider permitting him (to attend Parliament). Considering his health, he may be able to attend it, but we will be able to say only after examination of his x-ray then," the top medical official said.
Naik was traveling by car along with his wife and an aide in the north Kannada district as part of a private visit when his car overturned near Yallapura on January 12. His wife and an aide died from injuries received during the accident.
Speaking to reporters while escorting Naik out of the hospital, the Union Minister's son Siddesh thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for their assistance.
"Everyone has helped us a lot. I want to thank the Prime Minister and Defence Minister, other Union Ministers and party officials, Chief Minister and Health Minister and all party workers, because of whose support and blessings we were able to overcome this phase," Siddhesh Naik said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi temporarily appointed Union Minister of State(MoS) Kiran Rijiju with a new charge of the Ministry of Ayurveda, yoga, and naturopathy, unani, siddha, and homeopathy following the hospitalization and treatment of Shripad Yesso Naik.
Shripad Yesso Naik was admitted to the hospital on January 12 after he met with an accident while on his way back to Goa from Karnataka. The minister's wife and his close aide had succumbed to the injuries in the accident.
The President of India as suggested by the Prime Minister has directed that during the hospitalization and treatment of Naik, following a road accident, his portfolio related to the Ministry of AYUSH be temporarily assigned to Kiren Rijiju in addition to his existing portfolios, according to the statement. The president has further directed that this arrangement may continue till Naik resumes his work related to the Ministry of AYUSH, it said.

New Delhi, Dec 28 (IANS) Union Minister of State (MoS) for health and family Welfare, Ashwini Kumar Choubey has tested positive for Covid-19 and self-isolated himself at home on Monday evening.Choubey took to micro-blogging website Twitter to announce his health condition. He informed via a tweet that he underwent a test after he exhibited initial symptoms of Covid. Choubey also requested people who came in contact with him recently to get tested for the viral disease."On getting the initial symptoms of corona, I got tested today and the report came positive. My health is fine and I am following all the guidelines in home isolation on the advice of doctors. I request, whoever has come in contact in the last few days, please isolate yourself and get yourself tested," the minister tweeted.Choubey assumed the office of MoS Health & Family Welfare in September 2017. Ghaziabad, Aug 14 (IANS) Congress' former MP from Ghaziabad, Surendra Prakash Goel, passed away due to COVID-19, party sources said on Friday. He was 74.Goel was elected member of Parliament in 2004. He is survived by his wife and two children.Congress President Sonia Gandhi offered her condolences to the bereaved family. "Deeply saddened to know about Surendra Goyal's tragic demise. His sense of service and commitment shall always be missed. My heartfelt condolences to the family members, supporters and well-wishers," Sonia said in her message.Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also condoled the death.Union Minister of State General VK Singh (retd), the present Ghaziabad MP, also tweeted: "Sad news of the demise of former Ghaziabad MP.
