New Delhi, Sep 6 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said the local traditions should be used to help the vaccination drive. He was interacting with the healthcare workers and beneficiaries of the Covid vaccination programme in Himachal Pradesh via video conferencing.Addressing the gathering, Modi said that Himachal Pradesh has emerged as a champion in the fight against the largest epidemic in 100 years."Himachal has become the first state in India to have administered at least one dose of corona vaccine to each one of its entire eligible population which underlines the importance of 'Aatmvishwas' and 'Aatmnirbharta'," said Modi. While talking to Dr Rahul of Civil Hospital at Shimla, the prime Minister lauded the team effort for minimising the vaccine wastage. Talking to a vaccination beneficiary, Modi inquired about the facilities of vaccination and how they dealt with the rumours regarding vaccination. The Prime Minister spoke to ASHA worker Nirma Devi from Kullu, and enquired about her experience with the vaccination drive. The Prime Minister emphasised to use the local traditions in helping the vaccination drive in his virtual address. He praised the model of dialogue and collaboration developed by the team and asked about how the team travelled long distances to administer vaccines.The PM said that the world's biggest vaccination programme is continuing due to the efforts of people like Karmo Devi.Karmo Devi of Una has the distinction of vaccinating 22,500 people. He praised her spirit as she kept on working despite a fracture in her leg. Lauding the efforts of doctors, ASHA workers, Aanganwadi workers, medical personnel, teachers, and other staff in the vaccination drive against Covid, PM Modi said that the success of vaccination in India is the result of the spirit and hard work of its citizens. India is vaccinating at the record speed of 1.25 crore vaccines per day. This means that the number of vaccinations in India in one day is more than the population of many countries.Recalling the mantra 'Sabka Prayas' which Modi mentioned during his Independence Day speech, he said that this success is a manifestation of that. He praised the dialogue and collaboration model and expressed happiness that even in a remote district like Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal has been a leader in giving 100 per cent first dose."This is the area which used to be cut off from the rest of the country for months before the Atal Tunnel was built," said PM Modi, while admiring the state's efforts to not allow any rumour or disinformation to hamper the vaccination efforts. "Himachal is a proof of how the country's rural society is empowering the world's largest and fastest vaccination campaign," said PM Modi.Referring to recently notified Drones rules, PM Modi said that these rules will help in the spheres of many sectors like health and agriculture and will open doors for new possibilities. New Delhi, Sep 4 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with healthcare workers and beneficiaries of Covid vaccination program of Himachal Pradesh on September 6, at 11 a.m. via video conferencing.Himachal Pradesh has successfully covered its entire eligible population with the first dose of Covid vaccination. The efforts by the state included geographical prioritization to focus on difficult terrains, initiatives to ensure mass awareness, and door to door visits by ASHA workers, among others. The state gave special attention to women, elderly, divyangjans (specially abled persons) industrial workers, daily wagers and undertook special campaigns like "Suraksha ki Yukti - Corona se Mukti" to attain this milestone.Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jay Ram Thakur will be present during the interaction.Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in India to administer the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine to 100 per cent of its adult population.Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, the state's health minister on August 29 said that the second dose to 100 per cent of the population will be completed by November 30.More than half of India's adult population has received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine and 16 per cent have got both, the Health Ministry has stated as the cumulative number of doses administered in the country crossed over 67 crore.According to government data, the number of vaccine doses administered daily has increased from 19.69 lakh in May to 39.89 lakh in June and further to 43.41 lakh in July.In Sikkim, 36 per cent of the eligible population has been administered the second dose while in Dadra and Nagar Haveli it is 18 per cent and in Himachal Pradesh, 32 per cent.--IANSams/skp/
New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) Addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on Sunday on the occasion of India's 75th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the health workers 'deserve to be worshipped'.This was Modi's eighth address to the nation on Independence Day since 2014. "There is no dearth of political will in taking up reforms. Today, the world can see that there is no dearth of political will in India. The world is a witness to how India is writing a new chapter of governance," the Prime Minister said.PM Modi said, "The number of medical seats in the country has been increased. Affordable medicines are being made available to the poor under the Jan Aushadhi Yojana. So far, 75,000 Health & Wellness Centres have been set up. Very soon thousands of hospitals will have their own oxygen plants".Lauding the efforts of the health scientists, doctors and paramedical staff for their role in combating the pandemic, PM Modi said, "During the coronavirus global pandemic, our doctors, our nurses, our paramedical staff, scientists engaged in making vaccines, citizens engaged in the fight, they all deserve to be worshipped."During his Independence Day speech, Modi praised India's mass vaccination drive against Covid-19 and said, "Today we can proudly say that the world's largest vaccination program is going on in our country. Details: Keeping in view the need, the proposal to change the nomenclature and mandate of North Eastern Institute of Folk Medicine (NEIFM) to North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Research (NEIARMR) for imparting quality Education and Research in Ayurveda & Folk Medicine at Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh. The consequential changes will also be carried out in the Memorandum of Association & Rules and Regulations.
Impact: The inclusion of Ayurveda within the mandate of the Institute will be highly beneficial for the people of the North East region for imparting quality education and research in Ayurveda and Folk medicine. The institute will also provide opportunities for students of Ayurveda and Folk medicine not only in India but also the neighbouring countries such as Tibet, Bhutan, Mongolia, Nepal, China and other Central Asian countries.
Background: The NEIFM, Pasighat was established for systemic research, documentation and validation of traditional folk medicine and health practices of the region. The objectives for which the Institute was established include to function as an apex research centre for all aspects of Folk Medicine, to create an interface between traditional healers and scientific research, survey, documentation and validation of folk medicine practices, remedies and therapies for possible usage in public health care and future research etc.

Lucknow, July 22 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate nine new medical colleges on July 30 from Siddhartha Nagar district.
The new medical colleges will become functional after the inauguration.
According to the government spokesman, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked the administration to complete all necessary arrangements on time. It will be a historic occasion for the state when all the nine medical colleges in nine districts are inaugurated simultaneously.
The medical colleges that will be made functional this month will be in Deoria, Etah, Fatehpur, Ghazipur, Hardoi, Jaunpur, Mirzapur, Pratapgarh, and Siddhartha Nagar.
The state had only 12 medical colleges till 2017. But as soon as the Yogi Government came to power, the number increased.
The state government has planned to open medical colleges on the Public-Private-Partnership model in 16 districts of the state that do not have a medical college till now.
The state government is preparing to make Uttar Pradesh a hub of medical education, where not only the people of the state but people across the world can get all types of medical facilities.
Uttar Pradesh already has four premier medical institutes namely Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Sefai institute and King George's Medical University (KGMU).
New Delhi, July 9 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday reviewed the progress of oxygen augmentation and availability across the country.Officials briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on installation of PSA oxygen plants across the country. More than 1,500 PSA oxygen plants are coming up across the nation which includes contributions from PM CARES Fund as well as various ministries and PSUs. PSA Oxygen plants are coming up in all states and districts of the country.Officials told the Prime Minister that once all PSA Oxygen plants coming up through PM CARES are functional, they would support more than four lakh oxygenated beds.The Prime Minister instructed the officials to ensure that these plants are made functional at the earliest and to work closely with the state governments for the same. He also asked officials to ensure there is adequate training of hospital staff on operation and maintenance of oxygen plants and directed officials to ensure that each district has trained personnel available.Officials told him that there is a training module prepared by experts and they are targeting training of around 8,000 people across the country."We should deploy advanced technology like IoT to track performance and functioning of these oxygen plants at a local and national level," Modi said.--IANSssb/pgh
