While we speak about cellular detox, cleansing, autophagy etc, we need to understand which toxins are we referring to. Our body is exposed to various toxins on a daily basis either internal or external.
Externally, they enter our body through air, food, water, products that we apply over the skin etc. Most of the foods we eat contain pesticides, animal hormones, other toxins, and antibiotics which decrease the ability of our liver and colons to naturally detoxify and digest these foods. When the liver and colon are not working properly and expel such toxins, the whole body turns toxic! This toxicity produces a variety of symptoms such as inability to lose weight, fatigue, skin pigmentations and allergies etc.
Besides bodily toxins, toxins can also exist in the form of negative or unresolved emotions in our minds. These also lead to the manifestation of illnesses. Stress is a big toxin and reduces the ability of the body to absorb nutrients from the food, rest and repairs itself.
Symptoms of Toxicity
Toxicity generally affects us at a cellular level, whereas diseases and their manifestations often appear on an organ level. Consider the disease hepatitis which affects the liver cells, its symptoms are strongly associated almost entirely with the liver functions that are impaired. A toxin however can be circulated throughout the whole body depending on its nature, and therefore can affect many cells types and organ systems at the same time. In addition, we may have many toxins affecting us and each of these has its own particular effect on the body. Such complex toxicity is often hard to understand or predict. In general, many non-specific symptoms might be from a toxic overload.

Why should you Detox?
Detox is like cleansing your inner body. When done correctly under an expert, a detox helps us get rid of countless toxic substances accumulating in our body from the cellular levels. This sets the stage for a healthier lifestyle. Some of the many benefits of regular detoxing include: preventing chronic disease, slows premature ageing, increases energy, improves mental clarity, restores balances to our body systems etc. it is suggested that we do a short detox every quarter or do a complete detox twice a year.
How to do cellular cleansing and expel the toxins from the body
One of the most accepted and quick forms of body cleansing is by tapering the diet and by promoting the intake of alkaline foods in the form of liquids. Liquid fasting is an act of self abstaining from some or all food, drink, or both, for a specific period. During fasting, the body burns up and excretes huge amounts of accumulated wastes. One can accelerate this cleansing process by drinking alkaline juices. Sugars in juices will strengthen the body and provide energy, juice fasting is, therefore, the safest form of fasting.
While in the process of eliminating accumulated poisons and toxic waste materials, a lot of energy is spent during the fast. It is, therefore, of utmost importance to take a good physical rest and mental relaxation as possible during the fast.
Recommendations for a fruitful cleansing
* Consume 8 to 12 glasses of water at room temperature to speed up the cellular cleansing.
* During the cleansing process, we go through healing crises such as mild headaches, false hunger pangs, nausea or exhaustion. One must manage this with the help of wellness or nutritional expert.
* Take adequate physical rest and do not indulge in too intense activities for a longer period. Mild to moderate activities are recommended such as yoga, meditation, walking, TRX, dancing, swimming and stretching.
* Avoid any other junk food as this will adversely affect the cleansing process of the body and mind.
* No solid food is to be consumed during the liquid cleanse and then the cleanse need to be gradually ended.

Indic traditions emphasise that good mental and physical health is directly connected to three prime activities-- what we eat, how we breathe and the way we think. These help us to understand the deep connection between our bodies, minds, emotions and thoughts.
One needs to respect the balance between the physical or the food that we eat, mental or the thoughts that we manifest by what we think, emotional or the reactions or responses to situations that we give and the spiritual aspects that we experience in understanding the connection between us and the cosmos. Only when all this is in balance will we have the fortune to experience a healthy, peaceful and successful life. Let us briefly divide these three important aspects that help detox our bodies and help us live a wholesome life.
A Balanced Diet
Based on the principles of the Indic sciences, our life is primarily composed of elements that are sattva or pure, ahimsa or nonviolence and upyogita or symbiotic living. It is in this context that a yogic diet is recommended to live a wholesome life. An ancient practice that has been tried and tested for over thousands of years, a yogic diet promotes mindful eating, consumption in moderation, eating according to the season and indulging in organic and natural food for consumption.
A wholesome diet promotes the concept of "mit-aahar" or moderate eating encourages one to eat food that is in accordance with one's doshas. Our civilization understood the interspersed connection between the ecology and us and this probably is the one reason that we must find the lost connection on why we need to discipline our food eating habits in accordance to nature. Indulging in wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts, seeds etc that are both fresh and seasonal are the correct tools to live a healthy lifestyle.
Asanas for Great Health
Physical exercise like Yoga is known to help tune into the body's mechanism. We now need to connect individual intelligence with that of the universal consciousness. Our seers devised yoga as a way to overcome all suffering, internal or external, to enable us to live a healthy and peaceful life. Yoga helps centre the mind in chaotic times, strengthening immunity and building a strong but calm mind that can help us to withstand everything that comes our way.
Practicing Yoga Asanas for just 30 minutes everyday combined with simple breathing techniques and meditation, will help stretch the body and mind making us stronger and more flexible, less lethargic and more active. Not to mention we will be able to lead a disease and infection free life once we start our yogic journey.
Correct Breathing and Why it is The Key to Great Health
Our traditions emphasise that good mental and physical health is directly connected to the way we breathe. Correct breathing is known to help sharpen the brain and body, increase immunity, reduce stress and increase efficiency. Morden research confirms that most of us use only 20 percent of our breathing capacity during our entire lifetime, essentially hyperventilating on two overworked and exhausted lungs throughout our lives.
And without realising this, we live a stressful and disease filled life. Specific breathing routines have thus been established by our ancients that are as relevant today as they were thousands of years ago. Simple breathing techniques to manage breath must be practiced everyday to consciously navigate the body towards great health.

Have you ever wondered what components are essential for your health and protection? Most of us have never heard of the word 'Glutathione'. Yet, this molecule is the second-most ubiquitous molecule in the body after water. Glutathione is present in every cell and is vital for your overall health and well-being. And that's because, when it comes to ridding your body of toxins, this microscopic molecule is a heavyweight champ.
How it Works?
Nihaal Mariwala, Founder and CEO, Setu India, explains: "To understand how glutathione pulls off this crucial task, let's take a look at what it's made of and how it works in the body. Glutathione is a type of small protein called 'tripeptide' and it is made up of three amino acids -- glycine, cysteine, and glutamate."
The active, or working form of the molecule is referred to as GSH. It means that the molecule is in the position to donate electrons, and therefore, be in a "working state" within your cells. Glutathione is an endogenous antioxidant, or an antioxidant that's made within your body. It exists in both its active or form (GSH) and its oxidised form (GSSG).
It's its active form, GSH, or active glutathione, works diligently to eliminate toxins from the body. It does this by neutralising free radicals or unstable molecules by donating them with electrons. Free radicals are unhealthy for your body because they react with other important molecules, leading to tissue damage. The high presence of free radicals has been linked to many chronic health issues like cardiovascular diseases, inflammatory diseases, diabetes and even cancer.
Maintaining Glutathione Levels in Your Body
The amount of glutathione in your body can reduce with time, as your body might stop producing as much of it as you age. An unbalanced, unhealthy diet, stress, and excessive exposure to environmental pollutants can also lead to reduced levels of glutathione in the body.
To maintain glutathione levels in your body, you could consume foodstuffs that stimulate its production.
Foods like broccoli, kale, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, garlic and onion help boost glutathione levels. Other supplements that could boost your body's production of the tripeptide include curcumin (the yellow chemical compound found in turmeric), N-acetylcysteine, vitamins C and E. Studies have also shown that regular physical activity for at least 30 minutes can boost glutathione levels in the body
Glutathione Benefits for Your Health and Body
Just like we have superfoods, glutathione is often referred to as a "super antioxidant". That is because it detoxifies your body by eliminating toxins from your intestines, kidneys, lungs and liver. It even helps flush out environmental pollutants, like herbicides, fungicides or heavy metals. Glutathione makes toxins water-soluble so that they can be expelled from the body through urine and sweat. Because of its powerful detoxification properties, glutathione also plays a role in improving skin health and delays early signs of ageing. In addition, it is known to be an energy and immunity booster. That is why you will find many energy supplements for men and skin creams for women claiming to contain this molecule.

Amaravati, May 21 (IANS) It ended as a no-show for thousands of people who turned up at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district, as District Collector V.N. Chakradhar Babu made it clear that distribution of Ayurvedic cure for Covid would be allowed to resume only after competent medical authorities certify it.
Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided to rope in Central agencies to evaluate the Ayurvedic remedy for Covid that a local practitioner has claimed to have developed.
At a Covid review meeting on Friday, Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to get the remedy tested by Central government agencies, in order to decide on its safety and suitability for curing Covid patients.
The Chief Minister said that a team from the Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) should be sent to Krishnapatnam to conduct an in-depth study of the medicine developed by Ayurveda practitioner Anandiah.
Following an announcement by the YSRCP MLA from Sarvepalli, Kakani Govardhan Reddy, that the Ayurvedic cure for Covid would be distributed from Friday morning, thousands of Covid patients and non-positive persons flocked to Krishnapatnam.
But while some medicines did get distributed initially, the police later stepped in and stopped the process.
The medication, which has been prepared by local Ayurveda practitioner Anandiah, has been attracting people from the surrounding areas over the last few days. However, its distribution was halted after the Lok Ayukta stepped in following reports that Covid norms were being violated.
Anandiah had become a local sensation after people in search of a cure for Covid began landing in droves at his doorsteps, after visuals of his treatment went viral on social media platforms.
Anandiah is giving the medicine free of cost to whoever approaches him. The medicine, in the form of balls or liquid drops, contains natural antioxidants and components such as pepper, ginger, neem, turmeric, and tinospora codifolio, commonly known as giloy.
Apart from Covid positive people, even others who are waiting in vain for vaccines that are in short supply, are turning to Anandiah for Ayurvedic cure, even as there is no scientific evidence that Ayurveda can cure coronavirus.
Taking note of the development, the district administration had formed a committee consisting of officials and AYUSH doctors to evaluate the efficacy of the concoction.
Nellore Collector K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu had said that the committee did not come across any adverse affects in people who took the medicine.
While some samples have been sent for testing to a laboratory in Hyderabad, the results are still awaited.
The Chief Minister, who was appraised of the matter, discussed it in Friday's Covid review meeting, and decided to get the medicine evaluated by Central medical authorities.
