<h3 style="text-align: justify">Kottakkal Asokarishtam: Your Blood Brother</h3> Kottakkal Asokarishtam consists of the bark of Ashoka and other herbs like Dhataki, Nagarmotha, Daruharidra, Hairtaki, Amalaki, Shweta jeerak, Rakt Chandan, Krishna jeerak, Shunti and more. These herbs are then fermented for a month (or more depending on the amount produced) to make Kottakkal Ashokarishta.<h2 style="text-align: justify"> Preparation of Kottakkal Asokarishtam</h2> Firstly, barks of the best Ashoka trees are collected and then are ground into a coarse powder, made into a solution with water, then the water is boiled to remove ¾ of the initial water. Now we have the essence (virya) of Asoka that has come into this water, called kwath.&nbsp;Now we take this kwath and pour it into the fermenter and add jaggery to it, we dissolve the jaggery and then add all the prakshepa dravyas (remaining dravyas that help in making the concoction more capable and powerful). Now we take this solution, close the fermenter and let the fermentation happen.&nbsp;This fermentation happens for around a month. After that, the Arishta is collected and stored in a safe place or delivered to your local pharmacy for consumption by consumers like you and me.&nbsp; This is generally a health tonic for women and is used for easing most of the menstruation, and periods related issues in women but like most ayurvedic concoctions, nothing is specified for one gender only.&nbsp;It helps purify the bloodstream of excess pitta that gets accumulated due to eating hot, oily, and spicy foods, and is useful in increasing your hunger, Diabetes and in helping control your fever.
