Pittapapada Health Benefits: Pittapapada (Fumariaindica) is found as a weed all over India in the planar regions and is an annual herb. It is used in ancient and traditional systems of medicine. It has reproductive, antiparasitic, anticholinesterase, laxative, sedative, dermatological, analgesic, hepatoprotective, stomachic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It is a small and branched plant that grows in plain and lower regions of the hills annually and is found throughout the Himalayas but only up to the height of 2400m. It has whitish flowers that are roughly 6-6 mm long. The plant of this tree has roughly up to 20 to 60 flowers on every spike. The fumitory's chemical components are methyl fumarate, protopine, bicuculine, fumariline, (-)-tetrehydrocoptisine, narceimine, and narlumidine. All parts of the plant are utilized and consumed for medicinal purposes. 
 
How did the 'Pittapapada' word originate?
Pittapapada word finds its origin in Sanskrit and its English name is Fumitory. The English word is named so because of the flowers' appearance, which is translucent and appears to be smoky. Its scientific name is FumariaIndica.

The use of Pittapapada has been mentioned in Sushruta and Charaka. It has been mentioned to be used for blood disorders and fevers. It has been mentioned to be used to treat illnesses like urinary diseases and cough in Sushruta. 
 
In Unani medication, Fumaria plant imported from Persia is utilized as "shaahtara" and is a significant fixing in various blood filtering mixes.  It can be consumed along with lukewarm water about 1-2 times a day.
 To improve digestion, it has to be consumed regularly.
 
• Pittapapada Decoction
 10-20 teaspoons of Pittapapada decoction has to be taken. 
 Some quantity of water has to be added to it. 
 It should be consumed 1-2 times a day, preferably in the morning.
 To treat diarrhea, it has to be consumed regularly.
 
Side effects of Pattapapada
There aren't any scientifically proven side effects of this herb. It is advised to consult the doctor and gynecologist for its use during the period of pregnancy. It also has no side effects on children since it is one of the ingredients of the medicine called Aravindasavam. This is a medicine used to strengthen a child's body and increase body weight and increase digestive power.
