Chhath Mahaparv is not only a sadhna but it also teaches you to avoid diseases and stay healthy. Most of the ingredients used for offering Arghya in Chhath Mahaparva are locally available and have special significance in Ayurveda. Fruits and other food items are used the increased immunity as well as prepare the body to fight colds. In addition, they also protect against many diseases.

Amla, turmeric, sugar cane, banana, ginger, gagar lemon, pineapple, chestnut, coconut, suthni, thekua etc. used in Chhath are said to be the means of staying healthy. On the other hand, Sun worship provides vitamin D and also prevents leprosy. All the ingredients remove pitta-related disorders. And the materials used in Chhath are considered a means of protection against cold diseases.

Special Importance of Chhath Pooja in Ayurveda

Banana

​​Banana is rich in glucose, which helps in providing energy to the body immediately. It contains 75% water, in addition, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and copper are also found in sufficient quantities.

Gooseberry (Amla)

Gooseberry is very beneficial for health. Gooseberry contains calcium, and vitamin C protects against cold weather, enhances immunity, and a lot of nutrients that help in making the body healthy. Many diseases can be avoided by taking amla. During the corona period, include this in the diet.

Turmeric

Turmeric, specifically its most active compound curcumin has many scientifically-proven health benefits, such as the probability to prevent alzheimer, cancer, and heart disease. It's a potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant relief of wounds, anti-allergic, pain, and inflammation, and may also help reform symptoms of depression and arthritis. Turmeric is used in many Ayurvedic medicines also.

Ginger

Ginger keeps the body warm and its importance has enhanced significantly during the corona period. Ginger is used in many Ayurvedic medicines.

Sugarcane

Many nutritious ingredients are found in sugarcane juice. Apart from this, it also has anti-cancer properties. This not only protects you from the risk of cancer but also helps in removing kidney stones.

Pineapple

Pineapple is a fruit that enhances appetite, strengthens, and helps in blood-biliary disorders. It reduces fever, reduces urination problems. It also relieves stomach gas, pain, acidity, and physical weakness. Its ripe fruit cures diseases associated with bleeding.

Singhara

Singhara gives energy to the body, so it is included in fasting. It also contains iodine, which protects from throat diseases and causes the thyroid gland to function smoothly.

Coconut

Eating a piece of coconut daily not only increases your body's immunity but also improves memory. Coconut is rich in carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and protein, it also has good water content, so it keeps the body hydrated.

Gagar Lemon

Gagar lemon is called Pomelo in English, and its scientific name is Citrus maxima. Gagar Lemon is full of various types of pesticides. Gagar lemon contains almost twice as much vitamin C as compared orange and three times more vitamin A, beneficial for the eyes. Minerals such as iron and zinc are found in equal amounts.

Calcium is almost half the amount of orange calcium in Gagar lemon. Apart from these, Gagar Nimbu is also an excellent source of antioxidant substances just like oranges. These antioxidants increase the body's resistance and significantly reduce the possibility of various life-related diseases such as cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
