Tamra Bhasma is a miraculous classical ayurvedic mineral-based formulation used in a wide range of diseases including asthma, heart diseases, skin disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, food poisoning etc. Tamra bhasma is known to exhibit an anti-ageing action which helps in making the skin glow.

Tamra bhasma contains fine copper particles which are processed with herbal juices including aloe vera and lemon juice thus enhancing its therapeutic value. This purified copper is then added with purified Sulphur, ground well, made into thin cakes and heated in a closed container under 500-700 degrees Celcius for 24 hours to obtain black-coloured Bhasma. (Copper Calx) It is hot in potency (Ushna virya), Katu or pungent, and has Kashaya (Astringent), Amla (Sour), Madhura (Sweet) and Tikta (Bitter) properties.

It is specifically used in the treatment of Pitta and Kapha predominance diseases, skin diseases, helminthiasis, obesity, anorexia, tuberculosis, phthisis, chronic respiratory conditions, cough, cold, asthma, eye diseases, anaemia, piles, and dyspepsia.

It has a scraping quality, which makes it the best formulation for treating high cholesterol. Various research has shown its potency in curing cancer. Traditionally Tamra bhasma has been used in the treatment of poisoning. Tamra bhasma mainly reduces Kapha Dosha. It detoxifies Pitta Dosha. With its cholagogue action, it enhances the proper flow of Pitta Dosha. This action helps in pacifying the aggravated Pitta Dosha.

The key action of Tamra bhasma is on the liver, spleen, stomach, intestines, skin and muscles. It enhances bile secretion from the liver and gallbladder. Therefore, it boosts the peristaltic movements, eases digestion and stimulates appetite. Tamra bhasma has the following healing properties.
